When brilliant Detective Emmett Young (Scott Wolf) starts developing killer headaches whilst hunting down a notorious serial killer; he attributes it to stress. After all, it's a high pressure case – the killer is cutting up local girls and the Mayor; the Chief and the public want him caught yesterday. But a trip to the doctors reveals another cause. Emmett has a fatal disease – he's going to die soon and he's going to die painfully. That's when a mysterious stranger (Gabriel Byrne) makes him an offer – an assassin will take him out quick and clean at an unknown time and place, within three days. No pain, no suffering, no hospital fees. Now Emmett has two problems. The first, finding the serial killer. The second, finding the hitman. You see, the hospital made a mistake. Emmett doesn't have the disease. But the hitman doesn't know that and Emmett has no way of telling him. Which gives him just three days to solve the biggest murder case of his career – his own.
