Travel by train along both banks of the historic Rhine River to explore and discover the dramatic German countryside and stunning towns and cities. Beginning in the beautiful and picturesque city of Cologne, with its world-renowned cathedral, we take the train along the famous Rhine, with a rare view from the East bank, riding the rails usually reserved for Germany's busy freight trains, as well as the passenger lines of the West bank. Past the famous Lorelei to the city of Bonn, we take a ride along the Drachenffelsbahn, the scenic and historic rack railway of Konigswinter. This magnificent journey stops for sightseeing at some of Germany's fascinating castles, pausing again at the historic town of Wiesbaden, before continuing onwards to the busy and welcoming city of Frankfurt. Filmed over twenty years ago and now available on video for the first time, the series of European Railway Journeys films explores the many varied cultures Land countries across Europe, travelling by train which gives a different perspective to the cities and towns visited on the way.
