Synopsis:
Having abandoned his faith in God, Father Merrin (Stellan Skarsgaard) joins a British excavation in Kenya where a Christian church has been unearthed from the depths looking as if it had been buried on the day it was completed. But beneath the church, something much older sleeps, waiting to be awoken. As madness swiftly descends upon the villagers and British soldiers, Merrin watches helplessly as atrocities are committed against an innocent village - atrocities he had seen before and prayed never to see again. The blood of innocents flows freely on the East African plain, and the horror has only just begun. In the place where Evil was born, Merrin will finally see its true face.

A good prequel to a classic horror movie - Exorcist: The Beginning review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
08/10/2005

After critical mauling this film had upon its release, I have to admit I wasn't expecting that much. But 'Exorcist: The Beginning' is a suprisingly good film. The story is well written and put together, the acting is of a high standard, the cinematography is fantastic (the opening sequence of the aftermath of a medieval battlefield is stunning), and is a genuinely dark, creepy, and at times disturbing film. Some fake looking CGI moments are the only thing that lets this film down. Overall, while not as good as the original, Exorcist: The Beginning is at least as good as William Peter Blatty's 'The Exorcist 3', and well worth watching.
