- Synopsis:
The day that Kate finishes her first novel, her doctor informs her that she doesn't have long left if she wants to get pregnant. Distraught she goes to see her husband Rob to tell him the terrible news, but on the way crashes her VW banger into a brand new Jaguar. The Jag is owned by Dave and it's hate at first sight. Following a stand-up row Kate and Dave storm into a pub to meet their respective partners - only to discover that they are there and having an affair. Kate is devastated; she has no husband, no way of getting pregnant, no money and a bill for Dave's car. Dave, in turn, has been kicked out of the house by his wife to make room for Rob, and now has nowhere to stay and a very damaged car. In desperation he proposes that Kate lets him stay in her spare room until the bill for the car repair is paid off - Kate is reviled at the thought but has little choice. With Kate's world becoming one of sperm counts, ovulation, IVF and dating, she realises that finding the ideal sperm donor i.e. rather complicated. Why does she keep thinking about Dave though - surely he's the most unsuitable sperm donor of all - Actors:
