This film is lacking in every respect. Think Uwe Boll, but without the humour, without the self-mockery, and without the desire to entertain.
The acting is so bad that it is difficult to believe that the actors are professionals. The special effects certainly are special, but not for the intended reasons. Most deserving of censure, however, are the scriptwriters, who have managed to produce a new genre of ‘fi’ (that being science-free sci-fi). For example, the super-brainy-yet-aloof scientist mom ? no clichés there! ? ‘saves’ her diabetic daughter by giving insulin to treat her low blood sugar level. If the screen writers can’t even be bothered to check (basic) science-fact like what insulin does, it is hardly surprising that their science-fiction is, on every level, beyond belief.
Don’t waste your time with this film. The ‘so-bad-that-it-is-good-with-a-beer-on-a-Saturday-night’ effect does not apply.
