He played all through junior high and high school and was in the jazz bands and orchestras as well as in the LA Junior Philharmonic and the L.A.C.C. Jazz Band. His transition to bass lead him into the hard-core punk rock scene in L.A where he played with the bands Fear. James White and the Blacks and Circle Jerks. He's now with the Chili Peppers where he has been bassist to one of the most successful groups around to create a sound so unique. It's beyond classification because it's real and right out there.
The Flea Package : The Flea Package is an introspective and live performance improvisation with drummer Chad Smith Flearaps about the bass as his vehicle of communication of the things that are floating around the room or whatever he's about that day or that moment with friend and host River Phoenix.
