Celebrated on international stages as a soloist and conductor in equal measure, Florian Krumpöck is proving to be an exceptional figure in international concert life. appointed one of Germany's youngest general music directors in 2011, he has mastered an immense opera, concerto and piano repertoire and fascinates his audiences particularly in his dual role as soloist and conductor. "Forget Lang Lang and Arcadi Volodos. There are also highly virtuoso keyboard tigers in Austria" - this was the verdict of the daily newspaper Die Presse on the pianist's solo debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus. The son of a cellist and an art historian, he counted Rudolf Buchbinder, Gerhard Oppitz and Elisabeth Leonskaja, some of the most important pianists of our time, among his teachers from an early age. Sir Peter Ustinov introduced the young musician to a wide audience at an early age. After an audition, none other than Daniel Barenboim simply called him "a wonderful pianist", paving the way for a promising international career.
