The day before his retirement an old engine-driver Bob (Moore Marriott) is forced to report his stoker, Crow (Alec Hurley), for drunkenness. Crow is fired and vehemently warns Bob he will make trouble for him and his new crew. On the day of Bob's last run his daughter Joan (Pauline Johnson) is aboard the train to help celebrate. After discovering his new stoker Jim (Milland) and his daughter are sharing an illicit love Bob is furious, little does he know Crow has secretly boarded the train and separates the train from its carriages with disastrous consequences.
