Flying Scotsman, the world's most famous and best-loved steam locomotive has been saved for the nation thanks to an emotional campaign by the National Railway Museum. This film charts the return of Flying Scotsman to Yorkshire to open 'Railfest' - a nine-day festival at the National Railway Museum marking 200 years of the train. It also traces the history of Flying Scotsman, with footage of its latest refurbishment and a special interview with Alan Pegler, who rescued the locomotive from the scrap heap 40 years ago.
