Denis Law is one of Manchester United's true living legends. Laws flair, spirit and genuine love of the game earned him the nickname 'The King' and his glorious reign lasted thirteen years. After playing for Huddersfield, Manchester City and Torino, Matt Busby enticed him back to England to play for 'The Red Devils' in 1962. After the Munich Air Disaster, Law was part of the formula that helped rebuild the team. Law made his debut and scored his first goal for Manchester United in August 1962 against West Bromwich Albion. In his 404 appearances he scored 237 goals making him second highest goal scorer of all time in Manchester United history. Law was an international regular for Scotland; he was handed his first cap in 1958 aged just 18. He is joint top goal scorer (with Kenny Dalglish) scoring 30 goals in 55 caps. Unfortunately they never made it to any major competitions in the 1960's, despite beating England 3-2 in the British Home Championships less than a year after England were crowned champions! He was given a free transfer back to Manchester City in summer 1973 making an end to his 11 glory years with United, and retired completely from professional football in 1974. In this time he was crowned European Footballer of the Year in 1964/5, and helped United win their first league title since Munich. Since his retirement from professional football, he has often worked on the radio and television presenting and summarising games. In recognition of his impact on the game, he was made an inaugural inductee into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2002. There was also a statue of Law unveiled at Old Trafford in 2002.
