'For the Love of Mary' was to be Deanna Durbin's last feature film, a funny and romantic tale of love and laughter set in the White House. It's hard enough being a single working girl at the best of times, but for Mary Peppertree (Deanna Durbin), who works as a switchboard operator at the White House, life is almost impossible. Everyone want to interfere in her love life. The Justices of the US Supreme Court want to marry her off to a young attorney they think would be just dandy for her, while the President of the United States is trying to fix her up with a dashing young officer! What's more, she's plagued by a fish-obsessed crank caller who keeps trying to get through to the President and she just might be falling in love with him! What is a young, single girl to do? Deanna Durbin takes a final bow with truly memorable songs in her last feature film, including the breathtaking "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" as well as "Viennese Waltz", "On Moonlight Bay" and "Largo all Factotum".
