- When Ella (Gretchen Mol) and Alan (Joseph Fiennes) meet at an exclusive Florida resort, their incendiary chemistry quickly escalates. At first the lovers employ diversionary tactics to throw the volatile Brice (Ray Liotta), Ella's jealous husband, off the scent. Soon, however, Ella is torn between her love for Alan and her fear of its consequences. She renounces the blossoming romance and returns to her life as a housewife, while her watchful husband Brice takes measures to ensure that she will be his, and his alone. But, as time goes by, Brice discovers that his iron grip may not be enough to hold her.
