The official review of the 2012 Formula One season. Defending champion Sebastian Vettel faced tough competition throughout the year from Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and his Red Bull teammate Mark Webber. Elsewhere,Lewis Hamilton struggled to find consistency in his McLaren and announced midway through the season that he was set to end a 14-year association with the team and move to rivals Mercedes for 2013. The season was also due to be Michael Schumacher's last as an F1 driver,with the seven-time champion announcing his second retirement from the sport and making an emotional farewell at the final grand prix in Brazil.
