Synopsis:
And so, a week after Easter, it was accomplished. Footballing resurrection as the Throstles rolled away the stone from the Championship mausoleum and ascended to join the heavenly host, the Premier League. Doncaster might seem an unlikely launch pad for such celestial travels, but such are the infinite, mysterious ways in which the God of football moves. From an opening day draw with Newcastle beneath the benvolent gaze of the sadly passed-away Sir Bobby Robson to a final day meeting with the legendary Darren Moore of Barnsley, 2009/10 was a campaign packed with ups and downs, with moments heartbreaking and hilarious, mundane and magical. And at its heart, piloting phlegmatically, Roberto Di Matteo, adding a little Italian finesse to our Black Country passion. Forza Albion!
