West And Wales: Join Hermione Cockburn as she visits the beach at Formby to see ancient human footprints preserved in the sand. Her next stop is Cardiff. The City Museum is home to the skeleton of the oldest known human burial in Europe, The Red Lady of Paviland, which is actually a man. On the rocks along the beach she discovers some extraordinary dinosaur footprints. Shropshire was once covered in tropical coral reefs and Hermione is astonished to find evidence of fossilised corals in the Wenlock limestone. She ends her time in this area learning about some alarming folklore stories and myths associated with fossils and which fossils were once thought to be food for the dead.
South West England: One of the best places in the world to collect fossils is the Jurassic Coast stretching for 100 miles from East Dorset to Devon. With rocks dating through 1 85 million years of history, it is truly a geological walk through time. Hermione meets with Tim Ewin from Bristol City Museum who shows her a quite extraordinary dinosaur skeleton from this area with crocodile teeth and fossilised vomit in its throat. Hermione's travels take her to Lulworth Cove where Alex James of Blur talks about his life-long love of fossils.
