Ever since the first formulations of theory about Chaos, the nature of science has profoundly changed. The closer man has got to imposing order and understanding on the world around him, the less he has understood about the forces which change things constantly in a seemingly random fashion. And yet underlying this randomness is another set of principles which we are only just beginning to explore. The visual evidence of chaos is all around us and it has been analysed and used constructively in disciplines as different as economics and social planning as well as pure mathematics, astrophysics and genetics. Strangest of all is the visual dimension opened up by mathematical equations - a view into an alternative universe which co-exists with ours. Using computer aided visualisation and with musical compositions produced directly from such famous fractal equations as the Mandelbrot set, the producers of this video present a fascinating, relaxing and meditative set of images and music which can be studied for their own sake or used for relaxing or just as ambient backgrounds while you listen to your own music.
