Synopsis:
The Frank Sinatra Collection brings together some of Frank Sinatra s finest performances on television and in concert. This release combines his first two hour-long television specials from the mid-sixties.
A MAN AND HIS MUSIC: First broadcast by NBC on November 24, 1965, A Man And His Music, timed to coincide with his 50th birthday, was Sinatra s first annual one-hour television special. Broadcast at a time when American television was in the process of switching to full time colour programming, it is clear that television history was being made. Singing directly to the camera, Frank Sinatra makes the viewer feel as if he is telling his story directly to them.
A MAN AND HIS MUSIC PART Il: Following the success of the 1965 programme, A Man And His Music Part II was commissioned as the second annual television special and broadcast on December 7, 1966. Sinatra is accompanied by his daughter Nancy who treats us to performances of Bang, Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) and On Broadway . Frank also joins her on three duets where playful banter is captured between father and daughter including the magical Downtown . The spectacular climactic segment shows Sinatra flying through four of his hardest-swinging numbers in rapid succession.
