Fabienne Berthaud's absorbing drama Frankie uncovers the events that led to emotional crisis, mental breakdown, and psychiatric hospitalization for a fashion model. Fast approaching the age of 30, angelic ex-cover girl Frankie (Diane Kruger) is no longer young or beautiful enough...a woman who has reached the end of her career and who becomes totally disillusioned when she realizes the immensity of her solitude. Residing in a psychiatric asylum in Blois, she exists in a drugged and semi-catatonic state. In flashback, director Berthaud dramatizes the events that led to this predicament. Once highly sought-after by agents, Frankie experiences a series of minor calamities - an on-set clash with a photographer, and accidentally overhearing agents making disparaging remarks about her appearance - that collectively propel her over the edge.
