Synopsis:
Cult British television figure, Fred Dibnah was renowned for his love of engineering history. The 'Industrial Age' collection compiles a selection of his programmes on the definitive era in British history.

Wind, Water and Steam
This is the first of a six-part series in which Fred Dibnah celebrates Britain's rich industrial heritage. Fred takes a nostalgic tour of the country giving his own inimitable view on the Industrial Revolution. Along the way he meets dedicated volunteers who have spent their lives preserving the past. In this programme Fred examines the early use of wind and water power and traces the development of the steam engine. He visits a man who's built a windmill in his back garden and searches out examples of early steam engines that are still working today.
Mills and Factories
The series continues as Fred Dibnah traces the development of Britain's textile industry from the picturesque Scottish countryside of New Lanark to the urban mill town of Burnley. On his travels he chats to ex-weavers to find out what life was like in the mills, and comes across a group of volunteers who have spent the last 30 years saving mill engines from the 'scrapman'.
