A demonstration for an important event involves the raising of a balloon barrage. However, one balloon does not move, and when it is discovered that it belongs to 'The Crazy Gang', they are instructed to release it at once. This they do, but a sudden gust of wind means that not only does the balloon take off, but it takes the gang with it! Their journey ends when they land on the Western Front and are taken to a P.O.W. camp. There they meet a prisoner who knows of plans for a secret German weapon and the gang decide they must act immediately! Made in 1940, just after the outbreak of war, 'The Crazy Gang' take every opportunity to help the war effort by making Britain laugh! A barrage balloon fish and chip shop, pratfall acrobatics and the dodgy humour for which these Music Hall legends were renowned all come together in this Gainsborough comedy which has lost none of its sparkle.
