- The final feature film of Portuguese master filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira. Gebo (Michael Lonsdale) lives a quiet life with his wife and his daughter-in-law, Sofia (Leonor Silveira). But the family is haunted by the absence of João (Ricardo Trêpa), Gebo’s son and Sofia’s husband. Rumors are circulating of robberies and even darker dealings in neighboring towns. Is João responsible? One night, he arrives home and all is brought to light.
