When Jim Reeves lost control of the private plane he was piloting through a violent storm over Brentwood, Tennessee on 31 July 1964, the world lost one of the greatest ballad singers that ever lived. This film tells the story of one of country music's most influential performers, and celebrates his undimmed legacy. Born and raised in rural Texas, James Travis Reeves' rise to international stardom began in the mid-1950's with hits including 'Mexican Joe' and 'Bimbo'. Although the plane crash took his life at the age of just 40, subsequent releases of the vast body of recordings he made in his lifetime have ensured he will always be remembered as one of country music's most important performers. He had over 50 Top Ten hits - 18 of which made the charts months, years, even decades after his death.
