George Duke is an artist with an incredibly broad range who has performed and recorded with such musicians as Frank Zappa, Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones, and as a producer has worked with Miles Davis, Al Jarreau, and Anita Baker, among many others. Volume 1, Keyboard/Vocal Accompaniment offers George in a seminar setting dealing with musical introductions to songs, taking the viewer through chord construction, voice leading, and phrasing. George also gives hints and practical pointers such as how to gracefully handle single-note errors or chordal mistakes during live performance. Volume 2, Keyboard Improvisation features George in a seminar setting on contemporary improvisation and piano styles. He covers such topics as left-hand comping, phrasing, building solos from motifs, and various approaches to improvising compositionally. Also discussed are chord substitutions, voicings, and various keyboard tricks of the trade.
