When George Sampson climbed lampposts and body popped to the tune of "Singing in the Rain" winning ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in a blaze of glory, the nation went crazy. Here was talent in its purest form, a young real life Billy Elliott who danced his way from humble beginnings to bagging £100,000 and the honour of dancing at the forthcoming Royal Variety performance. That night, 14 year old George was propelled to popularity of mindboggling proportions. Georgmania was born. This heartwarming story started when George’s mum encouraged him to take dance lessons in a bid to keep him off the streets of Warrington. He showcased his skills on the streets of Manchester using his busking money to travel to London for Britain’s Got Talent ,auditions but it still wasn’t plain sailing. In 2007 George didn’t make the final stages of the competition. Undeterred, he returned a year later stronger than before and danced his way to the top as undisputed winner of Britain’s biggest ever tv show. Now, crowds of screaming fans gather wherever he goes.
