Film 1 - Old Berlin - The Reich Capital Film 2 - The Hanse and East Prussia. The Reich Capital of Berlin had more influence on the German people than any other city in Nazi Germany. This DVD explores the history of this world famous city through glorious archive footage, starting at the turn of the century and the introduction of the Weimar Republic in 1918. Following the Greater Berlin Act in the 1920s, the city boundaries changed massively and this expansion made the population of the city soar to over four million. The footage provides stirring and emotional moving pictures of Berlin before the outbreak of war. This documentary also shows the beautiful German landscape between Memel and Weichsel, East Prussia, also known as Land of the dark forests and crystal lakes . Sporting luscious greenery and teeming wildlife, it was the most fertile land in the Reich. The DVD finishes by exploring the typical farmers life in East Germany using rare footage that is unseen outside of Germany.
