As technology improved and new forms of warfare became available, the Second World War quickly developed into more than just a ground war. The technological advancements meant that major aerial battles could now take place. In order to inflict damage against enemy air bases and buildings, the airplane quickly became a pivotal piece of machinery that would ultimately decide the outcome of the war.
