When the treaty is broken by the U.S. government, the Apache flees to Mexico and returns to his warrior ways. He leads his people in an all-out war against the US Army and 4000 Mexican troops, which they can never hope to win. However, as his tribe is depleted, Geronimo continues to hold his ground.
