Sugimoto and Asirpa are reunited in Karafuto and leave Russian territory across the border with other advance team members and Shiraishi. As they move further to return to Hokkaido, the group decides to stop in the town of Shikika to send a telegram to Lt Tsurumi to inform him of the situation.
