We begin on a brisk January morning at the Winter Steam Weekend on the Great Central Railway, Britain's only double-track preserved railway. The weekend features numerous eye-catching engines including LMS 5690 Leander and the undoubted star of the day 70013 Oliver Cromwell. A quick trip down the line brings us to picturesque Rothley Station and another wonderful vantage point to see more of these impressive machines such as LMS Stanier Black Five 44767 and British Railway's standard 78019. We take a small detour to Doncaster to witness the homecoming of one of the town's most famous locomotives, 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley, before heading to Loughborough to see LMS 48305.
