This lavish adaptation of Charles Dickens' immortal tale follows Pip, an orphan given the chance to break free from poverty and live life as a gentleman. The stunning performances by an all-star cast are unforgettable. James Mason is Magwitch, the escaped convict Pip helps in an act which affects his whole life; Robert Morley plays his kindly uncle; Anthony Quayle is Jaggers, the lawyer who intercedes for Pip's anonymous benefactor; and the rich but deeply troubled Miss Havisham is deftly portrayed by Margaret Leighton. Estella, the lifelong object of Pip's love, is Sarah Miles and the adult Pip is played by Michael York.
