Synopsis:
Ground Force has come a long way from its' humble beginnings in West Wickham, Kent. It's been to most corners of the earth making gardens for foundlings in India and President Mandela in South Africa. It's taken in the Falklands, Jamaica and New York City on the way - and even penetrated parts of Wales... In this collection of rare and seasoned extracts, "The Titchmarsh Years" reveals the British bulldog spirit that comes out in us all in times of crisis - or in Ground Force most of the time. It's the spirit that drives the team, against impossible odds and in appalling conditions to achieve the improbable in the garden for someone who least expects it.
As he leaves the series after 6 gruelling years, Alan Titchmarsh uses this programme to spill some Ground Force beans. We get a glimpse into the psyche of his devoted band of die-hard gardeners, examine some sweepings from the cutting room floor, and see how they'll stop at nothing to create those special surprise gardens, unless it happens to be a well stocked bar - with Alan buying!
