Gunbuster 2 (2004)

Rather than a sequel, this is a reimagining of the original 'Gunbuster' anime. In this story, Nono is a girl who longs to be a space pilot, leaving her mountain home for the city. While working as a waitress, she meets Lal'C, a member of 'Topless', who use energy-channelling abilities and giant robots to combat space aliens. When she gets caught up in a battle between Lal'C's robot and an alien, Nono grabs the opportunity to show what she can do.
