In this period piece set in Edwardian England, a ne'er-do-well draper's assistant inherits a fortune and finds that all of London society (and especially the young ladies) are at his feet. In a Dickensian twist of fate, he loses his fortune, but may end up wiser because of it. MGM musical veteran George Sidney directs this loose adaptation of a novel by H.G. Wells.
