Many ordinary men and women became heroes in Thredbo Village, Australia on July 30th, 1997 when four thousands tons of earth crashed down upon two ski lodges on a mountain side. The injured were inaccessible and the mountain was flooded with mud, electricity, leaking gas and concrete slabs that threatened to crush all attempts at rescue. Buried deep down below the surface in sub zero temperatures, local ski instructor Stuart Diver discovers that he has survived. Pinned beneath concrete, buried by mud and freezing water, Stuart refuses to die. 'Heroes' Mountain' looks at the landslide from the night of the disaster through to the incredible rescue attempt of the sole survivor. This amazing rescue is reconstructed in a story of unexpected catastrophe, incredible courage and a battle to save one man - whose refusal to die became an inspiration to the world.
