On May 29th, 1953 Sir Edmund Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. This documentary includes interviews with Sir Hillary in which he talks candidly about his feelings through the triumphs and tragedies of his extraordinary life, including the deaths of his wife and daughter in a plane crash in 1975. The documentary also includes access to Hillary's personal letters and photographs, archive footage of his descent, and spectacular scenes from the mountain landscape of Everest itself.
