Synopsis:
There are sprawling vistas and expanses of foliage and jungles that are captured over the course of nearly two hours of vintage films. What’s particularly interesting is that most of these films were shot during the 1950's - which was when much of South America was in considerable political turmoil, either through Communist intervention of fascist coups. One has to wonder how successful these countries could have become without outside political influence. As you watch it becomes obvious these films were created for propaganda purposes and all have a heavy pro business agenda. Still, it can be fascinating to see how these people lived and worked. In some cases the people appear to be living in a world a hundred years or more behind the times. In other clips the people are working with the most modern equipment and living the most advanced lifestyles possible. It’s really hard to do justice to this set - because it covers so much territory and so many different lifestyles. Suffice to say that if you are interested in the region, you will get to see a full suite of high quality restored vintage films.
