Synopsis:
It’s really hard not to like a video that features animated cigarettes square dancing. You can imagine a time when cigarettes were advertised on television and before movies - but can you really imagine a time when square dancing was a hip selling point for anything? This collection of animated shorts used to sell products at movie theaters in the 1940's gives a pretty good historical perspective on how far America has come. Other ads sell cars and telephones. There are a few good government propaganda films, including one that tries to make water preservation seem fun. All of the clips are in remarkably good shape considering how old they are. Most give a good sense of the high standards of quality in hand-drawn and stop-action animation more than 60 years ago.
