When new couple Peter (Rufus Jones) and Katy (Rebekah Staton), and Katy's teenage son John (Oaklee Pendergast), return from their first family holiday together, the plan is to bring back a tan, a few happy memories and six crates of vintage champagne. But they are shocked to discover that what they have actually brought to Dorking is a six foot five Syrian called Sami (Youssef Kerkour), who wants to claim asylum in Britain. Katy is determined to allow Sami to stay the night, despite Peter's objections. As that first night turns into weeks, the family gradually welcomes Sami into their lives, and to help him create a life in modern Britain. They help Sami find his wife and child, lost somewhere in Germany, and Sami helps Peter and Katy to draw closer together. Thoughtful and surprising, Home explores the fragile forces that pull families apart, and bind them back together again. Rufus Jones has penned a warm, touching and witty modern sitcom which gets to the very essence of home and family.
