- Synopsis:
John Thaw (The Sweeney, Inspector Morse) and Reece Dinsdale (Born and Bred) star in Eric Chappell's (Rising Damp) look at the difference in age, taste and backgrounds that arise between father and son and the confrontations they can cause, in the fourth series of this popular ITV comedy, first shown in 1990. Henry Willows is a middle-aged divorcee happily living alone. His life is disrupted when his teenage son Matthew decides, after seven years apart, that it's time he got re-acquainted and moves in. Sadly, Henry has never seen himself as the typical loving parent...

Henry has high hopes for his daughter Julie. So when she brings round boyfriend Robin, he's keen to see how he measures up.

Matthew welcomes Henry's decision to take in a lodger - until he discovers that the new arrival is a curate.
5. Return to Clagthorpe
Instead of a foreign holiday, Henry decides to take Matthew back to their old holiday spot, Clagthorpe - much to Matthew's horror.
6. High Noon
There's a mystery virus at the Willows' home and Matthew seems to have caught it But Henry suspects he is faking it...
7. Leaving
As Matthew prepares to leave for college, beleaguered father Henry can't wait to return to a self-styled bachelor existence.
