Synopsis:
Abandoned by their troubled mother, teenager Dicey Tillerman and her siblings make a weary, adventure filled trek across Connecticut to find refuge at heir Aunt Cilia's house. When things don't go to plan and Aunt Cilia's daughter Eunice proves less than hospitable to her extended family, they decide to travel on rather than risk getting split up and fostered. Their journey leads them to the home of Abigail, their grandmother who they had always been told was reclusive and deranged. What they find and experience upon arrival at her home in Maryland is as surprising for the frustrated and hurt children as it is for the distant, grouchy but by no means crazy surrogate matriarch.
Abigail soon finds she has a lot to learn from the kin she has unexpectedly been reacquainted with. 'Homecoming' is a tender tale of second chances and the real meaning of family that proves home truly is where your heart is.

Above average family story - Homecoming review by Swambi

A well made film that is follows 4 children on an epic trip in search of family to care for them. Good filming, a wide variety of different and interesting locations, an interesting range of characters, exploration of differing emotions, good acting and good music make this an entertaining and fairly undemanding film to watch. The story is fairly predictable, and overall it was above average for this type of film.

An enjoyable film about a family of children of are abandoned by their mentally ill mother in a shopping mall car park. After the children wait days for their mother to return they decide to embark on a trip to seek help from their grandmother. It's a well written story with plenty of depth, the child actors are great and Anne Bancroft is excellent as their bad tempered and reclusive grandmother.
