Peter McGowan is a famous LA playwright with a lot of problems. He is struggling to overcome a series of flops and trying to come up with a child character for a new play he is writing. His wife Melanie’s serious urges of motherhood along with her live-in Alzheimer-stricken mother, insomnia and his very own stalker… and worst of all an incessant barking dog. The last thing Peter needs is someone new in his life that is until a special little girl named Amy moves next door. Eager to jump start Peter’s paternal instincts Melanie looks for every opportunity to invite Amy over. Peter soon realizes that Amy is the perfect subject from which to model that "real" child for his play. Together they prove that is not just children that should be seen and not heard it also applies to dogs. One Man’s Pet is Another Man’s Nightmare.
