Genealogy or tracing your family tree is one of the most popular and fastest growing hobbies. Many people starting out on the road to discovering their ancestors do not know where to go, what to ask for and whom to ask. Our friendly, experienced volunteers will take you on a tour of the records available and show you how you can use them. Looking at the Census, Parish Registers and many other documents and indexes you can build a picture of your ancestors including where and how they lived. As you add names, dates and occupations to your family tree the past will come to life. This video is a must for the beginner and will be of interest to the more experienced genealogist. It also looks behind the th scenes at the 17 century Bridge Chapel House; situated just away from the City Centre, one of the oldest buildings left in Derby.
