The modern rail traveller rushing to catch a train, juggling with polystyrene cups, mobile phones and laptops may have little time to spare to appreciate the amazing history of a transport system that was once the envy of the World. This programme, which takes an everyday train journey from Bristol to Plymouth, is a remarkable opportunity to look at some fantastic stories connected with this railway line, and the incredible Isambard Kingdom Brunei, who was responsible for pioneering the route more than one hundred and fifty years ago. Brunei was the Chief Engineer for The Great Western Railway Company, and the nostalgia associated with G.W.R. is still evident. Since privatisation, the trains on this line have once again sported the famous green and gold livery of G.W.R. allowing today's travellers to share in the heritage of one of the best loved railways of all time.
