The most stylishly striking survivors to emerge from the fragmentation of the punk phenomenon were the gothic punks or Goths. A fascination with the world's dark side, classic horror and art meant the music was also the most eclectic amongst the post-punk movements. Goth embraced the harshness of the industrial movement, the primal rage of demented rockabilly, the ethereal quality of classical, theatre, experimental, dance and punk rock itself. From this unlikely mix a quasi art form was created, and soon hordes of longhaired, androgynous, strangers dressed exclusively in black, were turning up at venues to watch a new kind of rock 'n' roll hero.
In Goth Daze is a celebration of the scene's heyday during the 1980's. It is an essential mixture of all things Goth - the prototechno thrash of Alien Sex Fiend, the snarling swampy blues of Manchester's Inca Babies, trash punk kicks from Flesh for Lulu, punk renegade and sex goddess Bekki Bondage with Ligotage, Gothic punk's adopted icon herself, the legendary Nico, and many more. In Goth Daze is a definitive collection of street credible, underground gothic rock 'n' roll. There is no distinct musical form. Goth has more to do with attitude, style and individuality of mind, so sit back and prepare yourself for the bizarre and twisted world that is In Goth Daze.
