The dynamic star of a host of Hollywood blockbusters Ewan McGregor gives up the high life for the wildlife in one of the coldest places on earth, to look for the world's largest land carnivore - the polar bear. The remote town of Churchill in Northern Canada is the polar bear capital of the world. For six weeks a year, the town is besieged by hundreds of polar bears heading up the coast of Hudson Bay, to hunt for seals in the ice. After a lean summer, they are all hungry and many will venture into town in search of food, endangering the locals who live there. Ewan soon discovers the delicate relationship between the locals and the polar bears as thousands of tourists visit the town drawn by the chance of a close encounter with one of nature's most fascinating animals.
