Paul and Karla appeared to be a picture-perfect couple, complete with a horse-drawn carriage for their fairytale wedding in 1991. Yet on the same day they married, 14-year-old Leslie Mahaffy's body was found dismembered in a nearby lake in Ontario, Canada, followed a year later by the discovery of the body of 15-year-old abductee Kristen French. The couple were not quite so perfect after all. Together they led a violent and twisted private life: Paul was responsible for nearly 20 violent rapes, while as a pair they were guilty of raping and murdering three young girls, including Karla's 14-year-old sister. Then, one night in 1993, Paul severely beat his young bride, sending her to the hospital where she broke down and confessed. Claiming she had been forced into the murders, she received a reduced sentence in exchange for testifying against her husband. But after the deal was made, the evidence surfaced: the couple had captured most of the assaults on videotape. The controversial tapes revealed that Karla was an active participant in the assaults, not the victim she had painted herself to be. Paul was jailed for life, while Karla was controversially released in 2005. - Actors:
