The townspeople of Ballywood, Ireland have to act quickly to avoid closure of their beloved pub Finnigans, so they devise a poetry contest with an entry fee in the hope of collecting enough money to save the pub. But when con-artist, Jimmy of South Central L.A. (Eddie Griffin), on the run from debt collectors and a jilted lover (Mo'nique), steals the lyrics to a rap song, passing them off as his own, he wins the poetry contest and the deeds to the pub, setting the scene for a hilarious fish out of water comedy as two worlds collide.
