Intimate views of jazz pianist Jaki Byard and drum innovator Elvin Jones. In 'Anything For Jazz' (1980) Harlem stride, ragtime, bop and free jazz intermingle in Jaki Byard's distinctive piano playing, in both solo performances and with his big band The Apollo Stompers. Whilst in 'Different Drummer' (1979) the distinctive whirlwind poly-rhythms of jazz drummer Elvin Jones are showcased: which includes live action from a 1979 line-up which features Pat La Barbara on sax, Ryo Kawasaki on guitar and David Williams on bass.
