1970s made-for-TV biopic of the legendary actor James Dean. Written by William Bast, Dean's roommate in the early 1950s when the men were both aspiring actors, the film follows the differing fortunes of the two as they seek their big break. While Dean (Stephen McHattie) begins his inexorable rise towards stardom, the acting career of Bast (Michael Brandon) fails to take off. Not only does Bast mourn his own lack of progress, but he feels a distance growing between himself and his more successful roommate. Will Dean keep his feet on the ground as fame begins to knock on his door?
