Janice Beard (Eileen Walsh) has taken her first step into the big wide world of employment, only to encounter that most fearsome thing: the typing pool. Up against the likes of spiteful Julia (Patsy Kensit), Janice stumbles her calamitous way through the essentials of office work: mail-order clothing; hairstyles; and office romance. As Janice's romance with post-boy hunk Sean (Rhys Ifans) blossoms, it becomes evident that all is not as it seems. Unbeknown to Janice, Sean seems to share her ability to lie compulsively. But unlike her, his lies reek havoc!
